Mr. Brewer receives notice as a locally bred sow repeatedly qualifies in litters sent to Saskatoon, with two males and two females in a 200 day weight test. Sire Trump 25 leads a group with several Canada qualified offspring aiming for five straight honors, as Brandon Exhibition entries rise.
A new resort at Crescent Cove on Dauphin Lake began opening this spring with 26 of 34 beach nets in service. Rusty Clarkson and J. J. Joe Neill have purchased the Sunshine Beach site from Ochre River Lounsbury Bros. The property now features 18 cabins in various stages of construction and a 3000 foot beach frontage with 1900 feet divided into 34 lots. Road access is being improved under the province beach plan, with hydro service already brought in and all work overseen by Manitobe Municipal and Town Planning authorities.
John Slobodzian, longtime Dauphin elementary supervisor, is named regional inspector for Indian schools in Manures region. He begins July 2 in Winnipeg, succeeding Inspector G Marcaux, with duties in education for Indigenous teachers.
The Canadian Forestry association tree planting car tours prairie provinces on its 37th run. Horticultural society hosts an evening meeting at the CNR Station with A Paton guiding film shows on windbreaks soil conservation and home beautification.
The Dauphin-Ochre area board accepted ten resignations and approved seven new hires for the 1957 58 term. Nine resignations come from Dauphin schools including three from the Dauphin Collegiate and Technical Institute. Mrs N M Sawechuk moved from Rigby to Eclipse school. Five more resignations list other Dauphin elementary staff and DCTS personnel. The seven new hires include four assigned to the DCT and others to Ochre River Rigby Ripon. A delegation sought Eclipse renovations and a ball diamond. smoke complaints were checked by furnace staff with budget limits noted. A petition against closing Paulson school prompted the board to explain the impossibility of keeping it open.
A mixed week saw rain on three of seven days totaling about an inch. Temperatures peaked at 75 on June 15 and 71 the following day. The rainfall helped soil moisture in many areas as days shorten and sunlight wanes, with seasonal notes on the coming southward sun.
The Canadian National Railways museum train arrives in Dauphin for a public exhibit on Tuesday June 25. The world’s only railway museum on wheels showcases historic cars including locomotive No. 40 built in 1894, a 1900 Mogult Switcher, an 1860s passenger coach, and three baggage cars converted to museum space.
Final vote count to be declared by returning officer W H Rampton places Fred S Zaplitny at 6706 of 16967 ballots. Ritchie 3463 Parker 2896 Hunt 2442 Ward 1304 with 156 rejects. service vote adds Zaplitny 16. Earlier rural and service results included. Official declaration due next Monday.
The five month report shows a $25,000 commercial permit the major item, with seven dwelling permits totaling $34,500 and seven alterations and repairs of dwellings at $4,600. Commercial alterations $14,000 and one private garage round out the month. Garage permits rise from $850 in 1956 to $1,950 this year. Eight dwelling permits total $41,500 versus $49,000 for seven by May 31 last year. Two new commercial permits this year total $260, while five month total last year stood at $9,200.
Hon W C Miller Manitoba minister of education will speak at the Manitoba School Trustees regional convention in Henderson school auditorium. Officers for the next year will be elected in the morning. Aides include Mayor Stewart E McLean and Inspector C D Voigt. The program features addresses by F R McIver and Perry P Dunn and discussion led by C R Durston with R R Robertson representing the department of education.

Thelma Willis aged 22 and Ronald James Rube aged 38, both of Dauphin, were injured in a two-truck crash at Keld corner Monday evening. They rode in a panel truck that struck a white low-bed semi-trailer. They were taken to Dauphin General Hospital by the larger truck’s driver, who was uninjured, and then the driver proceeded to Roblin.
A regional 4-H rally for Ste Rose Dauphin Ethelbert Birch River Roblin and Swan River areas is set for Dauphin fair. About 45 to 50 clubs expected. parade at 11 am. grandstand events 6 to 8 pm with two gold watches and prizes totaling over 1000 dollars. Sponsors include the extension service Manitoba department of agriculture T Eaton Company Canada Department of Agriculture National Grain Company and Ogilvie Flour.
The Dauphin Agricultural Society's 1957 Summer Exhibition will award more than $10,000 in prizes across livestock and industrial classes. A regional Shorthorn show offers $1,200, with added prizes from Extra and United Grain Growers. The event runs July 11 to 13 and includes a 4-H rally and a two-day race meet. Entries close by 5 pm July 9. livestock stock must be in parade by 6:30 pm July 13.
