The council weighs paving Main Street with gravel from Birds Hill as alternative. Estimated cost reaches 1.24 per yard if gravel priced at 2 dollars, plus prime coat oil and asphalt layers. Financing set from reserve funds and provincial aid. weather delays push work to later in the season.
During floods in Dauphin area three rescue incidents are recounted. Cyril Demeria, 14, saved five year old Zanada from the Vermillion river, while Garry, on a tricycle, was swept toward a current. Earlier, a team and wagon were drowned crossing a washout on Wilson river. Police and RCMP boats aided rescues of villagers and animals from rising waters.
One week into the survey for a new storm sewer the town moves to install lines along back lanes behind the Stelck off Main Street toward Third Avenue. The system will tie into the existing sewer and is described as urgent with daily office hours set at the Dauphin Theatre building. Campaign HQ for D.M.C.C. operates by D. E. Osborne, secretary.

The Winnipeg post office anticipates mail arrival Thursday morning after a Monday gap. Postmaster Dave Justice notes the Winnipeg mail rerouted via Melville due to a detour and says the office will stay open Thursday afternoon if mail arrives. Westbound mail has arrived regularly while eastbound mail is redirected toward Winnipeg and eastern points.
Dauphin residents will vote in the October municipal elections on a $75,000 debenture for the Dauphin Memorial and Community Centre. Council passed a resolution to place the issue before voters with the town’s share toward the centralization project. A $15,000 land purchase earlier this spring will be repaid to town funds after the vote.
Weather station at the south park gate recorded 6.67 inches of rain over a three day period June 22 23 and 24.
A severe flood in the Dauphin district wipes out roads and rail lines. Edwards Creek and the Wilson River breach banks, isolating communities for days. Major water supply remains safe in tanks but citizens are urged to boil drinking water as a precaution.

The bowling alley escaped damage while Edgar Stelck Woolworth Newtons Butchers White stores and Balls Drug Store faced flooding. An auxiliary fire engine pump moves 300 to 400 gallons hourly and has run over 24 hours with refueling breaks. Mayor Wm Bullmore authorized the use of equipment and joked he would likely face criticism for it.
Floodwaters from Edwards creek overwhelmed routes around Dauphin. Debris and rising water blocked No. 10 airport access and No. 5 highway. Bridges at Mineral creek and Wilson river failed, with a team and wagon horses drowned. Water also flooded the municipal airport for two days preventing landings.
A major water break cut supply to Dauphin causing a 24 hour outage. The Vermillion surged to record highs flooding the tourist camp the skating rink and nearby roads while engineers cleared a log jam at the reservoir and kept the power plant boiler alive to run the booster pump. Residents evacuated along river flats as the dam threatened further damage.
The town solicitor said the draft by-law from the garage owners association is unworkable. It wrongly assumes control over rural municipality stations and ignores openings and closures of stations. The by-law was returned for redrafting to meet conditions.
The Dominion Day holiday extension affects the Dauphin branch. Eaton's store will close at 6 p.m. Saturday June 28 and remain closed Sunday Monday and Tuesday, reopening at 9 30 a m Wednesday July 2.
