Cavalcade of the Circus Featured at Dauphin Exhibition

The Dauphin Agricultural Society prepares for Pea Saturday with a grandstand and Midway show. George Hamilton directs the Cavalcade of the Circus featuring Captain Dennie Curtis Black Horse Troupe and Madame Berto's Dancing Elephant act along with Arab pyramid builders, aerial performances, roller skaters, a dog and pony act, vaudeville teams, and a mule comedy number for a sweeping entertainment program.

Dauphin United Wins Walker Cup in Close Final

Dauphin United defeated Collegiate 2 to 1 to capture the Walker trophy. Stan Nicholson converted a penalty after Lysecki fouled a United player for a 1 0 lead, Dick added a second on a scramble, and Churchill sealed the win with a late shot as Collegiate missed a prior penalty. Bryce Bakeries outfit finished one point back.

The Dauphin Herald warns customers it is not responsible for printing schedules tables menus calendars or directories offered by out of town salesmen. It states it will not accept job printing orders through any channel other than its own staff or direct customer instruction.

Word arrives that Roy Smith a CN rail brake man suffered a severe foot crush at The Pas while attempting to couple two cars. His foot was caught between the draw bar and a moving car and he is hospitalized in The Pas.

Decoration Day car mobilization for Great War service

Citizens are asked to donate cars for Decoration Day this Sunday June 27 to be placed at Main Street south at 2 30 p m. Participants will attend cemetery services where a fitting program honors all who fell in the Great War.

Government Safety Lane To Operate on Highway Near C N Freight Shed

A provincial safety lane will run on No. 5 highway at front street east beside the C N freight sheds in Dauphin Thursday to Saturday. Local garagemen volunteer to operate the lane to minimize delays and allow car safety checks at no charge. The Dauphin Board of Trade backs the effort to test more cars, with H Trevor Davies arranging the details.

Dauphin Council Setstle Newman Claim for 3734

Dauphin Manitoba council approved paying Winnipeg contractor William Newman 3734.18 in full settlement of extra work claims on Edwards Creek dam. After negotiations the suit for 8839 was dropped and a graveling plan was approved including 1500 yards of gravel at 90 cents per cubic yard laid on streets. Public Works will begin street gravelling immediately.

Ward Warns Rotary on Farm Machinery Costs in Canada

W J Ward M P told the Dauphin Rotary club that cheaper farm machinery seems unlikely in Canada under current conditions. He suggested government price regulation as a last resort and cited a alleged international combine among major manufacturers. He noted eight foot binders cost 293 dollars now versus 160 dollars in 1913 and highlighted rising costs despite lower postwar costs.
