Nurses Receive Diplomas In Colorful Town Hall Ceremony

Four nurses from the Dauphin General Hospital School of Nursing received diplomas at a colorful Town Hall ceremony on Monday. Dr. Jane Turnbull of Brandon gave the address praising service, while Mayor D. D. McDonald and Dr. Ernest Bottomley spoke. Guests enjoyed tea, ices, and floral displays as the Collegiate orchestra provided music.

Norman Amos Dies in Winnipeg at 26

Norman Howard Amos age 26 of 148 Lenore Street Winnipeg former Dauphin resident died Sunday in Grace Hospital after illness. Beloved husband of Evelyn and father of Jack, he was son of Mr and Mrs H E Amos of Dauphin. He left Dauphin nine years ago to live in Winnipeg and worked for the CNR in the operating department and later for B and B. Funeral was held Wednesday from Mordue's Funeral Home to Brookdale cemetery.

Decoration Day Services Set for June 27 at Riverside Cemetery

Sunday, June 27, the Veterans of the Dauphin district will honor all Great War comrades. The service begins at 3 p.m. at Riverside cemetery. Citizens are asked to park cars on Main Street South to allow full participation.

Dauphin Pioneers Stage Reunion At Dauphin Beach

Early-day residents of Dauphin, about four hundred people, gathered on the 15th for their annual summer reunion and picnic. The pre 1895 settler families formed the core, with old timers recalling pioneer struggles while youth played games. Lunch followed by an evening baseball game and football closed the day.

Graduation Exercises At Dauphin Collegiate Institute

Nearly one hundred students completed years of study at the Dauphin Collegiate Institute with a Friday evening graduation in the school auditorium. The banquet and dance followed, featuring remarks by Howard Albright, A S Moore led a sing song, and toasts were given by Jack Hughes Dorothy Mudge and Frances Goffman. McKenzie urges extended farm product research for industry

Hon D G McKenzie former provincial agriculture minister told the Dauphin Rotary Club that further research into uses of agricultural products for manufacturing should be pursued. He noted U S progress in tying farm goods to industry and said farmers supply a third of Canadian manufacturers raw materials. He called for a national policy to support agriculture, expanded markets via trade agreements, and a government or similar agency to boost trade relations and research grain uses.
