Nurses Receive Diplomas from Deaphin Hospital School

The School of Nursing at Deaphin Hospital held a diploma ceremony on Tuesday evening with H N Macpelli presiding. Graduates Ruth Margaret Cormack Ruth Irene Fletcher Gadie Louise Brinkman and Muriel Irene May Delong were honored as Florence Nightingale pledge was administered by Captain Hunt. Diplomas were presented by A Katz with medals by Mias C Kettles. An address by Inspector R M Stevenson urged hard work and service as true life satisfaction.

Robert Campbell District Pioneer Dies in Dauphin Area

Robert Campbell aged sixty nine, a Mountview area farmer and early district pioneer, died at his home southeast of Dauphin. He helped found local rural government and served as Mountview school auditor for 25 years. Survived by his wife Christina Robb and three children, with funeral held at the United Church.

Secretary Faces Charges in Rural Municipality Misappropriation

Wilhelm Storgaard secretary treasurer of Ochre River appeared before Magistrate Little in Dauphin charged with misappropriation of municipal funds. He was remanded eight days after being relieved of office on Saturday June 13 for conduct not satisfactory to the council. alleged defalcation discovered and he was arrested.

Election writs issued speculating on Manitoba nominees

Writs dated June 17 for the Manitoba election July 27 will reach returning officers this week, clearing the way for nominations. Speculation runs high over government nominees in the 45 ridings. In Dauphin, Liberal Progressive Robert Hawkins is expected to be the party nominee. Conservatives will meet Thursday to set a conversion date. Returning officer John Seale is unable to serve. C. D. Bages will take the post.

Young girl injured after Main Street collision

Four year old Cleo Tipping, daughter of Mr and Mrs J Tipping of 41st Ave South West, suffered leg bruises and a minor ankle cut when struck by a light delivery truck driven by Mrs Ben Allum on Main Street South last Friday morning. She slipped while crossing with two companions. driver attempted to stop but could not. Mrs Alum rushed her to the hospital where Dr Rogers treated her. she was discharged the same evening and is improving.

Rudolph Buck was fined 20 dollars on Tuesday for operating a motor vehicle to the common danger. Evidence showed he had been driving at an excessive speed down Main street.

Rural council declines joint road repair funding

The rural council rejects a South Highway repair proposal totaling $200 in gravel funding, offering only $30 as its share due to 1936 maintenance allocations. Tied for top after the regular season Collegiate and Dauphin United met Friday night for the Walker trophy and Burrows cup. The Collegiate squad defeated United four goals to none to claim the cup. Dauphin Rotary Club Celebrates 12th Birthday

The Dauphin Rotary Club marked its twelfth anniversary at a regular luncheon honoring Judge Simpson of Minnedosa as an honorary member. A Dr McKee program and a cake ceremony followed, with Judge Simpson recalling early lean years and the club’s growth to fifty seven members.

Paddy Conklin returns to the midway with updated shows while De Waldo’s grandstand promises full entertainment and ample picnic and lodging facilities for visitors.

Remanded Figures in City By Law Violation Cases

Harry Roszell is remanded until Thursday on a charge of operating a vehicle for gain without a proper license. Dan Cole is remanded until Thursday on three charges including disorderly conduct on the street and assault, plus owning a dog without a license in the Valley River district.
