Mrs Robt Lindsay Ashville Pioneer Buried in Dauphin

Funeral services for Mrs. Robert Lindsay of Gilbert Plains rural were held in Dauphin on Monday May 31 after her death May 28 in Dauphin General Hospital. Dr. D K Burns led the United Church service with assistance from Rev D Ritchie and Rev A J Radley of Gilbert Plains. Burial followed in Dauphin before residents decide on a permanent home. she leaves three sons John James Shelburne Ont Albert Earl Gilbert Plains and Alexander Wilbert Gilbert Plains and a daughter Mrs Russell Sholdice Ashville along with two sisters Mrs B Thring Guelph Ont and Mrs Geo Boyce Brandon. Pallbearers listed Jas Mills Jas Presley Chas Foreman Jas Mc Williams Dan McDonald A Sholdice.

Gemmel Wins Macneill Medal at Collegiate Institute

At the Literary Society meeting Robt Gemmel won the Macneill speaking medal. His speech covered the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Physical Training Display Staged By Dauphin Collegiate Institute

Dauphin Collegiate Institute students staged a May 28 display of physical training on the McKenzie school grounds. Girls under Miss D Mudge and boys under Mr J M Howlett performed dances, exhibitions, and two-man events while Grade IX won softball and basketball finals, Grade XII defeated Grade II 21 11 in volleyball, and Grade IXB beat Grade XI 12 11 in softball.

Walter Donally Named CNR Superintendent at Dauphin Man

Walter J. Donally, formerly Terminal Superintendent at Winnipeg, is appointed Superintendent at Dauphin Manitoba, succeeding R. King who retired. J. J. Napier becomes Terminal Superintendent at Winnipeg. Both changes take effect immediately and reflect long railway careers in eastern and western Canada.

Enlarged Junior Farmers Camp Planned for Dauphin Fair

Plans for a greatly enlarged farm boys camp at the Dauphin Agricultural Society fair run July 8 to 10. Seventy five boys will be chosen from Dauphin to McCreary, Swan River area to the west, for shows in horses cattle rope halter making and poultry skills. They will compete in judging and practical contests with about ninety cash prizes. The Dominion department of agriculture aids the project led by John Conner. Full details on Page 6.

Manitoba Seed Growers to Hold Convention Here

D M McLean secretary of the Manitoba Seed Growers association says the annual convention will be in Dauphin on Friday July 16 with morning business sessions luncheon entertainment and late afternoon events. Delegates from Winnipeg and southern points arrive Thursday evening and depart Saturday morning returning via Clear Lake.
