Dauphin officials led opening ceremonies for the Dauphin fair and race meet with John Bracken and Mayor W L Bullmore officiating. Jann Bracken addressed attendees while plans for the town band anniversary were announced as grandstand events were postponed due to rain soaked track conditions.

Second Day Jubilee Float Parade Delights Dauphin

The Liberty symbol float depicting Canadian freedom for European immigrants won the $75 prize as the most outstanding entry. The Dauphin branch of the Canadian Ukrainian Committee staged the five block parade down Main Street with bands and many noted floats.

Storm Toll in Dauphin Brings Wet Weather Record

A six hour storm over Dauphin Tuesday night produced a downpour and frequent lightning. From 10.15 PM to 4.30 AM winds and thunder dominated, with rainfall totaling under two inches. The prior week logged 2.1 inches as temperatures ranged from the mid forties to the high seventies.

The mayor and town council led a street cleaning bee on Main Street at 530 am in preparation for Dauphin's jubilee. Over 25 members of the three groups used 100000 gallons of water to scrub the thoroughfare while rain dampened the events.
