Rally day at Laophin fair features first day judging

Judging of hunters and jumpers starts the rally day on July 5 as part of the Dauphin fair program. Registration opens at 9 am with club displays, followed by livestock judging demonstrations at 11 am and a fashion show by Dauphin Institute girls. Awards at 7:30 pm include Eaton horse exhibition and grandstand performances.

Town Engineer Waller Resigns

The resignation of Mr. G Wailer, town engineer, was accepted by town council at its meeting Monday evening. His written resignation was submitted while council sat as a committee of the whole to consider questions related to the engineering department. Acceptance becomes effective July 15.

Dauphin Jubilee Fair Opens With Record Racing Meet

Dauphin hosts a three day jubilee fair starting Monday with Rally Day Citizens Day and Oldtimers Day. Hunters jumpers judging and a free-for-all harness race headline a program featuring 40 horses and entries from Roxy Hamilton and others. Prizes exceed 400 with Wednesday events including a 1.30 start and final at 6.30 with a $150 winning team prize.

Dauphin Jubilee Fair Sets Large Prize Race and New Exhibits

The Dauphin fair unveils a boosted prize list with $400 in prizes, two open track events led by collegiate stars, a larger parade, and a six horse Clydesdale display by George MacArthur. New industrial hall displays include leathercraft shellwork and a 50th anniversary theme, with junior handicrafts and a model farm yard hydro display. The Boyle Wolfolk Variety show and multiple bands promise full entertainment through the jubilee fair.

Dauphin Jubilee to Celebrate 30th Charter Anniversary

Dauphin marks 50 Years of Progress with a Jubilee and Reunion Week from July 5 to 11. Registration at the town hall will welcome former residents and pioneers, who receive jubilee buttons. Events feature a monster float parade and oldtimers activities, culminating with a Mardi Gras and masquerade on Friday.

DYPA Edges Anglo Anglos In Extra Innings For Seventh Straight

DYPA beat Anglo Anglos 3 to 2 in a two extra innings game after a 1 1 tie through the first seven innings. Murray Tuck tied the score in the sixth, Don McAmmond homered to force extras, and a ninth inning rally fell short as DYPA took the win.

Bridges Planned On Winnipegosis Highway And More Good Roads Projects

The Good Roads department plans four new bridges on the Winnipegosis highway and possibly a steel bridge over the Wilson River at Ashville with concrete piers already in place. Maintenance and new work extend from Camperville to Rejkavik and Amaranth, with maintenance budgets up slightly but offset by higher fixed repair spending. flood aid and drainage projects are to be expanded, while trunk highway work decreases this year.

Pioneers Marry in Old Timers’ Dauphin Fair Pageant

On Dauphin’s Pioneers Day July 6 oldtimers in period dress take over the grandstand after the first race. They perform a theme song, sing with Mr. and Mrs. James Paul, reenact the marriage of Jane Alguire to George Barker, and stage a hoe-down with the Barker couple, Mary Akers, and William Terry as bridesmaid and groomsman. The minister is an elder with a grey beard. Andy Miller’s orchestra attends. Hugh Rozell is floor manager.

Dauphin Fair Offers $400 In Parade Prizes

The Dauphin agricultural society announces a gala float parade with a $75 top prize and twenty additional cash prizes across ten classes including comic floats horse riders and bicycles. Competitors have four days left to enter and win portions of the $400 prize pool.
