The Dauphin fair organizers announce streamlined traffic control and extensive lighting for July 5 6 7. Parking will use designated lots and directed routes, with eight street lights along the grandstand corridor and interior lighting for all barns and the industrial hall. An automotive display with at least six local dealers is planned west of the concessions. A bus stop near the fair office site is under consideration and the old timers headquarters tent may be placed near the office.

Elks Day Features Thrilling Canadian North-West Steeplechase
The first Canadian north-west steeplechase highlight of the Elks Day at the fairgrounds drew a packed crowd. Win by Skip owned and ridden by Lewis Nicholson of Dauphin in heat one, with Lone Scout, owned by R Lin tick and ridden by Bill Fraser of Dauphin, close behind. Slim placed third overall. Ribbons were presented by B C Goodhand. The Elks aim to establish the event as a regular feature in coming years for Open and Farmers races, with Stuarts of Gladstone dominant in Open events and other Dauphin and Gladstone entries placing in second and third.

Gilbert Plains won $250 for first in the Elks sports day with three wins. Binscorth finished second and Dauphin took third behind Vic Franczak who joined the Dauphin team shortly before the tournament. Dauphin beat Plumas 4-0 in opener, then fell 6-3 to Gilbert Plains in the semi finals.
