Health Minister Promotes Prevention Across Provinces

Minister of Health in a June talk urged disease prevention as key to public welfare. He cited three divisions: medical care costing over seven million yearly, with 2% of Canadians ill daily and Manitoba hospital use rising. Mrs L A Browse Dies Leading Citizen of Winnipegosis

Mrs L A Browse a leading citizen of Winnipegosis dies after surgery in hospital. Born Jean Jonaston Sandison in Scotland she moved to Canada and settled in Winnipeg then Winnipegosis in 1921 with her husband L A Browse. She was secretary of the Winnipegosis United Church board and held numerous roles in local clubs and women’s institutes.

Park Board Urges Conservation and Survey for Dauphin

The Park Board of Trade pressed for a federal survey of Riding Mountain National Park focusing on water protection unspoiled woodland and controlled timber removal near Dauphin. They also formed a committee to study the Farmers' Creditors' Arrangement Act and improving treatment of unsecured creditors. The annual meeting was tentatively set for January 8 with committees named.

Fred Baylis 54 Dies in Hospital Funeral Today

Fred Baylis longtime Fairville resident age 54 died at Dauphin General Hospital after a short illness. Born in London 1882 he came to Canada as a youth and lived in Belleville Winnipeg and Dauphin. Survived by wife Rosie and siblings Percy William Arthur Mrs Dumpsey and Mrs Lys. Funeral from St Pauls Thursday at 2 30 conducted by Rev Bridgett with Riverside Cemetery burial. Pallbearers listed.

Seven Keys to Baldpate Delights Dauphin Audience

The Dauphin Little Theatre staged The Seven Keys to Baldpate directed by Harold Robson to a capacity crowd in the town hall. Cast included William Hallowell Magee as the author, Jack Little, Dorothy Mudge, Bob Eastman, George Reid, Rosco Jackson, Frank Barker, Elsa Buckwold, Betty Robinson, Robert Bruce, and Allan Solomon detailing a melodramatic tale of a writer creating seven keys to Baldpate Inn amid murder and intrigue.
