In clear weather over 15660 electors voted in town elections with D. D. McDonald defeating W. E. Robson 776 to 727 to become mayor. Councillor races saw Peter Cowton beat Archie Bennett in Ward Two while J T Taylor edged A A Brewer in Ward One. Ward One trustee W G White held the post against Mrs R M Watt by ten votes.

Re-arrest of Robertson for Arson After Acquittal on Murder
Robert Robertson, a 22 year old from Ochre River, was acquitted of murder in Dauphin court but re-arrested Thursday morning on arson charges connected to the fire that destroyed G. M. Wilde’s home on February 17. Defense counsel Alex Katz will again represent him.

A poacher shot at game warden Paul Olereak who was skinning elk inside Riding Mountain National Park. The horse was mortally wounded as the poacher fled toward the bush. Mounted Police from Dauphin, including Constables McKayser and Haggert, pursue the suspect in the Grandview district with an early arrest anticipated.
