A J Schmied holds an eight point lead in the Glad contest as 15 entries by four exhibitors compete in the Dauphin Horticultural Society garden show. Schmied won first second and fourth prizes with glads named Pactolus and Spotlight, while Mrs Brown and D A Craig took third and fifth. The judge was H Hazell, and the event continues through Saturday at the Dauphin Hotel.

Town approves chlorinator upgrade and old unit rehab

The Dauphin Horticultural Society announced winners in rural and urban home grounds contests. Stewart McDonald led farm homes with 87.6 percent. Gavin Strang and Joe Bonk were runners-up. Daniel A. Craig topped urban homes with 84 percent. Ernest Riddell and Bert Williamson followed. Special urban landscape trophies went to Mrs. A. D. Smith with runners-up David E. McLean and Bert Williamson.

Two Dauphin No. 50 squadron cadets joined 100 Western Canada air cadets chosen for the Tri Cadet honor guard for the Duke of Edinburgh visit to Chilliwack B C on August 4 Fit Sgt Wilson 17 son of C Wilson Dauphin district senior leaders course and Fit Sgt Johnson 17 son of E Johnson Winnipegosis served as flight sergeant in the guard all services trained together for the event.

Dauphin Lions Launch Drive for Community Pool
The Dauphin Lions club votes to build an outdoor swimming pool on DMCC grounds with a goal of 15 000 to 20 000 dollars.
