J Q Finch died at age 61 at his Martinsville home after a paralytic stroke last Sunday following a leg injury in January. Survived by wife Lorena Freeman and two sons, Burl and Tennyson, plus a sister and a brother. A former spoke factory operator in New Market and Crawfordsville, he also ran the Darlington elevator and owned Martinsville area elevator properties. Funeral services were held in Martinsville then at the I O O F cemetery in Darlington.

Bullet Wound Fatal Death of Alonzo Coleman Farmhand
Alonzo Coleman a 50 year old farm hand for Wiley Tribbett near Linnsburg attempted suicide early Thursday by shooting himself in the barn over concerns about chicken thieves. He died Saturday at Culver hospital after the bullet injured his head and left side paralyzed. Coleman born in Montgomery county lived most of his life here, was respected, and is survived by his parents. Funeral held Monday at Linnsburg church led by Rev. Rector with burial in Mace K. of P. cemetery. He belonged to the Kokomo Moose lodge.

In recent campaigns here for clothing for Europe and the Near East, Darlington residents gave about 1000 pounds. The Friends churches committee collected 400 pounds and Bundle Day contributed 596 pounds. The Bundle Day clothing was valued at 400 dollars by the Near East headquarters committee.
