Death of a highly respected man in Darlington
Robert Woody a longtime Darlington resident died at his home at 1:30 am May 13 after a long illness. Born November 17 1846 near Salem North Carolina he lived in Indiana before settling in Darlington. He married Cynthia Ann Cook in 1872 had five daughters and four grandchildren. The funeral was held at the Friends church with interment at Greenlawn.

The M E Church in Darlington held an all day event to celebrate completion of re decoration and improvements costing between 1000 and 1500 dollars. The interior now features new walls and ceiling lighting a Tiffany style auditorium and a refurnished basement with a large kitchen. Rev M H Appleby preached the morning sermon to a large crowd with Rev W P McKensey Rev Jeffords and others speaking in the afternoon. A bountiful dinner followed and the evening service featured a sermon by Rev McKensey and a solo by Mrs Burgin.
