Darlington Memorial Sunday and Decoration Day Observed

Memorial Sunday and Decoration Day were observed with morning sermons at the M E church and a Monday address at the Christian church. Rev W H Bell, Rev Stovall, Rev Frost, and Rev Van Zant led services with a union choir, while Mrs Walter Burgin and Mrs Bert Hiatt sang. The parade ended at the I.O.O.F cemetery for graveside decoration under Mrs Oka Gambrel. A notable absence of the flag head of the procession marked the day. The crowd was large at church and cemetery but not as large as usual, possibly due to many decorating graves on Sunday. The evening concert drew many attendees on Main Street.
