Swiss Civil Defense Push Expands Shelter Network
Swiss civil defense officials describe a 2.4 billion program to protect 6 million people, with Sonnenberg tunnel as a major air raid shelter. By 1990 every resident is promised shelter, private homes must have shelters, and many underground hospitals and command posts exist nationwide. A seven story command post hospital cavern with 328 beds is showcased with visitors including a Chinese delegation.
