GM, the world’s largest maker, posted a third quarter net of 99.5 million dollars or 34 cents a share, the lowest for any three months in five years as sales fell. Nine months earnings were 1.2 billion dollars, with 4.31 dollars per share, while dividends rose to 85 cents a share.
The Episcopal Church panel accused Bishop Pike of inadequately pastoral care and misrepresenting faith symbols, including the Trinity. New York AP. Rep. Adam Clayton Powell Jr. found guilty of willful failure to comply with a lower court order in a $164,000 libel judgment and sentenced to 30 days in jail plus a $250 fine. The appellate court overruled a prior decision, orders Powell to appear by Nov. 3 for a financial exam. It marks the third civil contempt finding linked to Esther James's judgment.
A two car collision on U.S. 6 near Chardon Ohio killed five people including Chardon Police Chief John R Bohl who later died of a heart attack. Robert A Sinarski 40 suffered a heart attack at the hospital. Four others were injured two critically. Victims include Patricia Anne Zalar and her infant son Frank of Euclid and Mary Mesoredee both of Euclid. Charles E Strothman 27 of Cleveland.
