Indiana Trade Mission Survives Brazilian Plane Crash

Indiana Lt. Gov. Robert D. Orr and about 100 trade mission members from Indiana survived a WASP Airlines crash into Guanabara Bay near Rio de Janeiro. Five people died, including foreign and Brazilian nationals. 12th mission member Gordon Tuerr of Logansport was missing hours after the crash but unconfirmed reports said he was treated and released. The two engine turboprop shuttle to Belo Horizonte sank after takeoff. The cause was unknown. survivors described a chaotic escape as the plane struck the water and officials worked to account for all aboard. The Indiana group had visited Colombia and Venezuela on a mission to seek markets for Indiana products.

California man linked to milk price rise probe

Mideast war ends in new front line claims

Israel said it won a very big victory in 18 days of fighting and controls about 750 square miles inside Egypt west of the canal and 300 square miles in Syria beyond 1967 lines. Lt Gen Navid Elazar asserted the front lines remain strong as talks for a permanent peace begin. The Pentagon noted a slower airlift to Israel and possible Soviet reductions in weapons shipments.
