Bold regional government concepts may not be carried out
Regional planners argue two of three bold ideas may never take effect as Virginia hesitates on service districts and a Commission on Local Government. Christopherson and Kidwell note progress via regional planning district commissions, yet fear irreversible moves to formal district-driven services. Local officials favor coordination over sweeping regional implementation.

State Police Head Upset Over Closed Committee Meeting
Richmond AP report says a House Militia and Police Committee closed session discussed state police personnel matters and possibly trooper membership in a pay drive group. The piece also notes a Canteloupe origin aside and Virginia road funding figures for the secondary system.
