Private Power Firms Win Court Backing To Build Plant
A three judge U S appeals court upheld the Pacific Northwest Power Co license to build a 257 million dollar Mountain Sheep plant on the Snake River. Interior Secretary Udall faced criticism for delays while the Washington Public Power Supply System and other public groups pressed to dam the river. The ruling rejects a federal dam supremacy argument, endorsing private development and signaling potential Supreme Court review.
