Danville Civic Center plan eyed for downtown growth

A proposed Danville Civic Center would convert the old Armory into a multiuse complex with an audience of up to 7,600, a ballroom, kitchen facilities, offices for Parks and Recreation and National Guard, and a gym on the second floor. Officials argue the project would spur urban renewal, attract conventions, boost culture, and retain talent, with downtown revitalization and federal support seen as likely outcomes.
