Mart Pares Early Losses But Ends Up At New Low
The market opened with sharp losses Monday but finished at a new low for 1969. The Dow Industrial slid to 870.86 after trading near 958, with 1,078 declines and 314 advances among 1,593 issues. The Associated Press index dropped to a new low of 309.8 while the S&P 500 fell to 96.23 and the NYSE index stood at 53.32.
