Four-County Health Plan For Dam Lakes Area In Roanoke
Four counties Bedford Campbell Franklin and Pittsylvania sharing Smith Mountain and Leesville Lakes will join a state health program for water pollution tests and sanitary measures. Dr R W Jessee director of local health services said details will be released next week and the plan will coordinate with the Division of Engineering and the State Water Control Board. The aim is a uniform policy so practices are consistent across counties. Counties already cooperate on septic tank regulations and marina sewage disposal. Each county health department would conduct periodic lake water tests and supervise sanitary measures.
