Two Men Arrested In Spy Plot In Florida
FBI arrested Carl L Weischenberg a West German and Carl John Helser of Highland Beach Florida for an elaborate spy ring. They allegedly passed secret military data to East German and Soviet agents and planned to smuggle components of a top secret US cruise missile to the Soviet Union. The men faced U S charges of acting as agents without state notification and await further hearings.

House Energy Unit OKs Four Cent Gas Tax Hike
Washington AP The House ad hoc energy committee voted 22 to 18 to recommend a four cent per gallon increase in the federal gasoline tax. If approved the levy would fund a federal energy trust for mass transit state aid and energy R&D with two cents to be collected in October this year and two more in October 1979.
