Stunt Pilot Mantz Dies After Film Crash In Hollywood

Frank Tall man built the craft for the film using wings from a Beechcraft and parts from an A 6. The fuselage and tail were handmade with a brand new motor. Mantz had reported engine overheating and difficult handling earlier in the week. He doubled for James Stewart during location work at Yuma and was back in Hollywood when the crash occurred.
