The funeral for Jeane Bradley Sparks age 36 was set for 11 a.m. at Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Victor Mantiply officiating. Interment followed at Highland Burial Park. Sparks, of 200 Clement Ave., died Sunday after years of ill health. she was born in Pittsylvania County and lived in Danville most of her life. She taught at Richard Smith School and worked for Corning Glass Co. She was active in the Moffett Memorial Baptist Church and the Virginia Parent Teachers Association, serving as PTA president at Stonewall Jackson School and as Virginia PTA president. Survived by her husband James M. Sparks, two sons, a sister, and two granddaughters.

Danville police faced a busy holiday weekend with arrests for felonious assault, two assaults on individuals, and 14 public drunkenness charges. A Christmas Eve stabbing on Gunns Alley led to a felonious assault charge against Wesley Law Banks, while other cases involved two misdemeanor assaults, misdeed checks, and shoplifting at local stores. A DUI incident on Worsham Street caused three-car damage totaling about 4000 dollars. Preliminary hearings set for January 5, 1978.

Clyde Q Mustain 56 of 29 Bailey Place died Monday morning at Memorial Hospital of Danville after 17 months of declining health. He married Lelia Hubbard in August 1939 and worked for HK Porter Diston Division until retiring in July 1976. A Navy veteran, he was a member of Northview Presbyterian Church Moose and Elks lodges. Woman Spends Christmas Trapped in Bathtub in Charleston
An elderly Charleston woman Bertha Johnson aged 59 was found in her bathtub after four days alone. She reportedly was cold and hungry, kept partly covered by a towel. Police traced the scene after a neighbor heard cries for help and broke a window to free her.
