After a scant 0.09 inch of rain, hopes for relief from six weeks of dry, windy weather grow among firemen farmers and households. Forecasters predict no rain today or tomorrow and only partial cloudiness, while officials warn that even a brief shower may not lift the area’s fire risk. Forest officials say wind moisture loss limits benefits and a safety ban on burning near woods remains until precipitation improves conditions.
