Pioneer Julius Quintal a Jefferson Death in Canada
Julius Quintal of Jefferson died in Montreal on August 10 1920 at his sister in law Mrs Larmore's home. Born November 24 1851 in Maryville Canada he joined the California gold rush before settling near Jefferson. He leaves wife Celina and seven children with 20 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He lived four miles northwest of Jefferson before moving to town.

Miner Turned Pioneer Leaves Trail of Yukon Gold and Land He Gave to Sons
A longtime West mining man who prospered briefly in early ventures, married, and bought land in Jefferson for his three sons. He joined the Yukon gold rush in 1900 returning after eighteen months of hardship. He later tried Mon Lana and the Yukon again, but fortune eluded him. A memory and talkative host, he remained a quiet neighbor with many friends among early city residents.

Man Leaps From Douglas Street Bridge Into Missouri River
Bri denbaugh a 56 year old retired banker from Cole Ridge Nebraska died by suicide yesterday afternoon by leaping from the Douglas Street bridge into the Missouri River. He had been confined at St Bernard’s hospital in Council Bluffs for two months and apparently relapsed escaping from his nurse Miss Nancy Four. The nurse and hospital attendant Oscar Fleming had taken Bridenbaugh and another patient to an Omaha theater. Local divers had not recovered the body. Identification came from a letter to Dr Frank T Seybert found in a coat left on the railing prior to the leap. Mrs Kil l McGuire and Mrs W B Murphy, both of Council Bluffs, witnessed the leap and heard him shout Ll um poing.

Corn crop outlook for 1920 surpasses five year average
The University of Nebraska College of Agriculture bulletin notes 1920 corn plantings estimated at 109,648,000 acres, slightly below the ten year average, with expected production at 4,003,922,000 bushels about 10 percent above the 1914-1918 five year average. It warns that unless a early frost arrives the 1920 crop could be the second largest ever, after 1917, and questions what will be done with the surplus.

Election Boards Named for September 21 1920 Constitutional Vote
Following a suit the election boards are set for the special election on September 21 1920 to decide constitutional amendments.
