Birthday Celebration At Oliver Home In Homer Nebraska
Eight young girls attended a Sunday birthday gathering at the home of Mr. and Mrs. S J Oliver, parents of Mrs. Sloan Jo Star. Guests included Mr. and Mrs F G Bennett of Homer. Mr. and Mrs Lawrence Huff of Whiting. Mr. and Mrs John Olson. and Mr. and Mrs Owen Pope. Refreshments featured sandwiches fruit cake ice cream and fresh strawberries in cream. John Patterson charged with stealing a horse from Frank Heeney in Emerson on March 23, 1916 was arraigned in county court Wednesday and waived preliminary hearing to enter a guilty plea. Pender Republic editor Tom Ashford and R. J. Taylor of the Winnebago Chieftain were among visiting officials.

South Sioux City high school forfeits graduation this year due to many students enlisting in the army. The year closed yesterday after a victorious field meet by local schools.
