Axtell man A J Danborn learns his cousin Ernest Danborn perished on the Titanic. Ernest had just completed a yearlong honeymoon travel in Sweden and Europe and left Stanton Iowa with his bride over a year ago. Mrs Danborn and their baby also died.
The railway commission will hold the concluding hearing on the Union Pacific valuation in May. The commission allowed Northwestern to set a rate of 844 cents per 100 pounds on brick from Fremont to Lincoln to equal the Lincoln to Fremont rate.

A Texas Confederate reunion special en route to Macon Georgia derailed six miles north of Hattiesburg Mississippi. Four trainmen and at least twenty five passengers were killed or injured with several bodies recovered and more feared under wreckage. The New Orleans & North Eastern train, carrying veterans and families, plunged from an embankment after crossing a trestle.
The annual reunion of the United Confederate Veterans opened at Camp John B. Gordon in Macon Georgia on Monday. A great throng of veterans their relatives and friends have gathered as thousands of homes in the city open hospitable welcome to the visitors.

Four year old William Woherley toppled from shored pilings into a 12 foot deep street sewer opposite 818 Ernst Seventy-first Street in New York. He was swept into the East River and drowned as bystanders and workmen failed to reach him before the body disappeared.
Mrs. Mary Borich of Master street and Ferry avenue stopped a thief with a pistol after he stole jewelry and fled from a Camden house. She forced him outside before fainting, later revived by neighbors. Earlier a well dressed youth named Stanislaus Sobliski was directed upstairs and later caught in the act of stealing.
