Texas rangers exhumed the body of Clemente Vergara kidnapped and killed by Mexican federals. The corpse showed bullet wounds, a crushed head and signs of torture before death. The body was returned to the American side for identification.
A March fire at the Missouri Athletic Club in St Louis collapses a roof that covers half a city block. Officials report over 100 dead with only about two dozen escapees tallied. seven bodies found on the fourth floor side, including John Martin Hickey of Chicago. Fire crews and police flood the scene as the rear section also caves in.
Verdinand Pinney Earle and Miss Charlotte Hermon were found guilty after a two day trial in Komorantin France for kidnapping Harold Earle from a school near Paris. Earle received two months in prison and a $5 fine, while Hermon got one month and $3.26. Both were released due to time served. The judge awarded $1,400 to Harold’s mother Mine Flachbacher, who sought $5,000 in damages, against Bugle.
New York report shows Frank Tannenbaum an Industrial Workers of the World organizer held to the grand jury after a brief Friday hearing on charges of inciting to riot and making forcible scare.

Washington report notes the Interstate Commerce Committee vote 14 to 3 to recommend repealing the Panama Canal Act clause that grants free tolls to coastwise shipping. Senate critic Senator Smith targets President Wilson’s stance as Democrats tie tolls to the platform.
George W. Vanderbilt of New York died here on Friday from a pulmonary embolus after an operation for appendicitis. He was the youngest son of W. H. Vanderbilt and grandson of the Commodore. Born November 14, 1862, he helped run the vast Hiltmore estate and sponsored forestry and dairy experiments with Heinz Pinchot as one of his aides.
The Interstate Commerce Commission reports serious irregularities in St Paul railway accounting aimed at influencing bond sales. Commissioner Harlan cites parallels with the New Haven and Frisco inquiries and warns penalties will target officers at all levels for violations of accounting rules.
Marinette Wisconsin March 9 reports question whether a prisoner can escape jail by psychic means. Archie Matthews escaped though all windows and barn doors remained locked, the jail observed with doors secured. The incident feeds local speculation as investigators review the unusual claim.
Berlin reports Ernst Meyer known as Jalil editor of a Socialist newspaper was sentenced to three months imprisonment for treason. He was tried on charges of libeling Crown Prince Frederick William.

Lieutenant Colonel Chebatneff, chief of police in St. Petersburg, was shot dead by a junior officer Lieutenant Ivanof. The motive is difficult to determine but appears to be vengeance.
In Los Angeles on March 16 seven patients died and another was dying during clinical treatment for a blood ailment at the county hospital. The circumstances surrounding the deaths are under investigation by the hospital staff and authorities.
Count of the university location petition names by counties completed by the secretary of state. Of 29 386 names allowed to remain on the petition short by 781, 3164 from Douglas county. 5 per cent of that count only 1462 votes in 1912. Names ruled out total 2877. Counties lacking required percentage include Adamp Banner Blaine Burt Cheyenne Dawes Devel Gage Garfield Greeley Grant Molt Hooker Tioward Keya Paha Knox Logan Loup McPherson Morrill Perkins Red Willow York.
The monthly report shows over 50000 uninvested funds on hand with 66058 in the general fund and 721651 balance at start February. Receipts total 024435 and expenditures 689831 leaving 746255.41 on hand. Of this 8219.78 is cash on hand and 798095.68 in state depository banks. Invested funds total 564714 with 83249 university warrants 123008 normal school warrants and 50060 general fund warrants. Invested in bonds amounts to 9228995. The university building fund holds 44187 to be paid as warrants unsold by owners. Night classes at the state penitentiary attract more inmates each session. Warden Fenton praises progress in common school and commercial courses. Classifying inmates by previous education proves successful. Thomas McIntyre, paroled from Cheyennes county for murder, is noted. parole pursued by Governor Morchead after belief he had no part in the Sidney watchman murder. Neville signs contending McIntyre was not in yards.
A carload of biking shoes, the first peace duvation of feudwear for the Nebraska National Guard, arrived at Lincoln headquarters. Officials say storage in the armory is planned with distribution at the state camp later this year or before departure for Wort Elley maneuvers. General Hall says the echoes indicate a curable quality.
