Francis H Ayres writes from U S Debarkation Hospital No 4 in New York City dated February 27 1919 to his mother Mrs Lycurgus Ayres. He describes arriving in the States feeling well and grateful for the facility comforts including a large hospital building with easy access to city venues and shows. He expects full pay soon and hopes to be home within six weeks mentioning about 6000 men aboard the voyage and plans to write again tomorrow.

It explains filing requirements for Nebraska residents, penalties for late or fraudulent returns, and how husbands and wives report joint or separate incomes.
