The last quarterly conference of the church year is set for Tuesday July 9 at 9 a.m. Reports are encouraged from all departments including Ladies Aid Sunday school Epworth League and Boards. A written report is suggested. Ladies Aid meets Friday with Mrs Fannie Crozier. Services next Sunday at usual hours with the pastor preaching July 8 and 15. Future Sundays include July 28 Children’s Day program July 29 Rev Wm Esplin Blair and August 5 Rev John Crews Benson. The True Blues fairy play with 60 children is Friday July 13 under N Y Montgomery Lincoln. big crowd expected.

Weather and Independence Notices From the Journal
The June 29 1877 issue reports a violent storm with thunder lightning and rain damaging cellars and hail striking St Johns precinct Dakota county breaking windows in about one third of homes. The 1897 note mentions Hubbard Homer celebrations on July 8 and a Winnebago powwow on the Fourth. The Herald price is one year for one dollar.

New Woman County Agent Appointed in Madison County
Madison county appoints Nebraska’s second woman county agent Miss Louise Meredith will begin July 1, supported by a cooperative system with the U S Department of Agriculture and the University of Nebraska extensions and a Homemakers association of over 200 members. The group funds the local program and guides the agent’s work.

The Dakota County Farm Management Association board met June 29 approving May 25 minutes and bills for Perkins Bros typewriter desk 1500 plus 975 need, Pollard Oil Co. 1905, Gaynor Bagstad Co. 390, and others. Auditors Young and McGlashan certified treasurer Adair’s accounts and the May 12 1916 to June 29 1917 report filed for publication. treasury showed a balance of 6869 with several warrants paid totaling 1551 55.
