Meeter and Snake announce a refitted room in Slilles Block north of Kerr House offering groceries and provisions at low prices with free delivery to all city parts. They stock cigars and tobaccos and invite Marion and area residents to inspect goods, thanking customers for past favors and seeking continued patronage.
Delware Division canal aqueducts near Kintnerville broke after a loaded canal boat crossed yesterday. Both arches collapsed into the stream, causing a major flood that drained water from the canal and flooded Milford. Six bodies from a related Belvidere Delaware Railroad disaster still missing. Loss from the aqueduct failure is estimated at $30,000. Central Railroad of New Jersey holds canal lease. rebuild timing uncertain, winter repairs unlikely. Hundreds lose work. Milford entirely flooded, with the creek flowing twenty feet above normal. The Great Fair opens with crowds and festivities despite hazards, police presence, and reports of saloon temptations. Wallace Sisters cabaret at City Hall draws full houses, with fans flocking indoors and crowding entries for Fanchon performances tonight.
