George Beaton son of Wm K Boston in Alachua county Florida stalks a large panther in Santa Fe swamp and shoots it twice. The beast falls after the final discharge and measures eight and a half feet long. Beaton reports no more buckshot left and describes the panther’s eye wound and white track.
A grand sea excursion to Dayton Ohio on July 4 offered round trip fare of 1.50 dollars for adults and 1 dollar for children. Trains depart Marion at 6 30 am, arrive Dayton Union Depot at 10 00 am, return around 6 pm for an eight hour visit to Soldiers Home and Fair Ground with balloon ascension details and theatrical events. Also advertised Seda Mixture for stomach and bowels.
