Diamond Cut Diamond Duel Ends in Double Death
In Paris about sixty years ago Paul Ferrand confronts Victor Laroquiere after a public insult. A duel is fought at dawn with pistols at twenty paces. Ferrand is killed. Barton, Ferrand's avenger, later shoots Laroquiere in the same spot, avenging Ferrand and clearing Paris of a bully. Barton and Mrs Rae plan a reconciliation as Alice Rae awaits the future.
