The Voice From Beyond Death by the Phone A Marvelous Invention
A Scientific American article envisions a future recording device turning speech into indented paper slips, later replayed via a reproducer. It describes mechanical, non electrical recording of voice and music, with potential for books, letters, and remote hearing long after the speaker’s death. Edison is cited for advances, and the piece speculates on immortality of speech through such devices.
