In Carson City Nevada the six ton Old No 5 coin press once retired in 1958 near the Carson City Mint continues stamping out millions of quarters dimes and pennies since September 1964. Brought from storage to fill a coin shortage the press works at the Denver Mint with Nevada officials hopeful it will remain in service as long as needed.
Detroit report on 1967 auto price adjustments shows Chrysler cutting an average $28 from earlier hikes across 118 of 128 models. Ford lowers average increase from 107 to 66 as GM holds at 64 over the line. Chrysler cites a remote control device for an outside rear-view mirror as a standard item. President Johnson and UAW head harshly criticized price moves as the auto rich list moves toward the new sales season.
