Inflation climbs as cost of living rises in August

Fremont eyes three top level posts to overhaul schools

Fremont officials propose hiring three top level directors to report to Associate Superintendent Phil Brazil. The $149,000 annual plan would add directors of elementary education secondary education and pupil services under Brazil while retaining one administrator and nine coordinators now overseeing instruction programs. Ford to unveil three cylinder engine with six cylinder option

Ford Motor Co plans a two year rollout of a dual displacement engine that can switch between six and three cylinders to save fuel. President Lee Iacocca cited about 10 percent fuel savings and said the system uses an electronic control module to deactivate half the cylinders at highway speeds around 45 mph or during deceleration to 25 mph, reactivating them as needed.
