A fire at 22966 Fuller Ave in Hayward last night caused about 40000 dollars in damage to McCoy's Auction Yard. Fire crews arrived after 047 pm to find the building engulfed. roof collapse occurred and flames were knocked down by 210 am. Contents valued at 11000 burned. No injuries reported. Cause under investigation by fire and sheriff, with unconfirmed reports of shots fired and a patrol car struck. The yard was run by Everett McCoy’s widow and son.

Medina jurist reduces My Lai charges to one involuntary manslaughter
A military judge in McPherson Georgia reduced or dropped most of Capt Ernest J Medina murder specifications over the My Lai massacre case. The only remaining charge is involuntary manslaughter for the shooting of a woman during the March 18 1968 infantry sweep. Medina admits firing at the woman but says it was in self defense. The proceeding was sparsely paused by a death notice in the chief prosecutor’s family.
