Co pilot rescued as missing pilot searched after Bay crash

In San Francisco Bay a twin engine mail plane plunged near midnight. Coast Guardsmen rescued co pilot Bert Johnson 25 from Arcata while searchers sought the missing pilot Goodwin 86 from Eureka. Plane from Eureka Aero Industries bound for San Francisco with mail.

Two-state search for twin engine? single engine plane

Two state search began for a four person missing plane that departed Lovelock Nevada for Provo Utah late Thursday night. The CAA reported the sun 172 piloted by Jesse Pearson from San Carlos California refueled in Oakland and disappeared after an 8 hour 25 minute flight via Salt Lake City. Civil Air Patrol planes from Reno Lovelock and Elko joined the search and radio contact with the blue black and white aircraft was lost after it left Lovelock. Utah CAP then took over the search from Salt Lake City.

Senate confirms six ambassadors and U.N. delegation

The Senate approved six ambassador nominations and named the U.N. delegation for the upcoming session. Appointees include Charles W. Adair Jr to Uruguay and Douglas MacArthur to Iran, with others to Kenya Panama Singapore and Malaysia. U.S. General Assembly representatives include Charles W. Yost William Burfum Dante Fasell and J Irving Whalley and Shirley Temple Black. Alternate representatives are Christopher Phillips Glenn Olds Tila Hauser William Coleman and Joseph Johnson.

Israel Attacks Suez Area For Third Straight Day

United Press International reports Israeli planes hit Gulf of Suez targets for a third consecutive day, maintaining a peak pace of aerial action since the Six Day War. Israeli patrols killed eight Arab commandos near the Dead Sea as Defense Minister Dayan vows retaliation without triggering a full-scale war. Cairo claims 102 Egyptian planes attacked Israeli installations Thursday. Israel says it shot down 11.
