Eight Hold To Fast Deadline
LOS ANGELES UPI Only eight of a group of 20 hunger strikers began Friday night held out to the deadline. The group mainly CONGRESS OF RACIAL EQUALITY members vowed to prepare mentally and physically for any tests. A spokesman said four ended the fast after 24 hours. Six others held for 36 hours then left due to headaches and sickness. The two who left the home of John Donnely were Rev. Morris Samuel and his wife they planned to return to his East Los Angeles parish but kept the fast until the deadline.
