Pleasanton Truck Crash Leaves Livermore Man Hurt
67-year-old Frank Castro of Livermore was injured when his tractor-trailer was struck by a Southern Pacific diesel near Kaiser Plant north of Stanley Boulevard in Pleasanton. Castro, cited for failure to stop, was pulled onto the hood of his vehicle as the train hit it at about 46 to 40 mph. The engineer Ira Stephenson of Vallejo was uninjured. the unladen truck was totaled and the engine damaged.

Firm in accident loses transport privileges
The State Division of Highways cancelled the transportation privileges of Sheedy Drayage Co of San Francisco, owner of the railroad car that knocked an electrical transformer onto a sedan on the Nimitz Freeway. The car’s driver died after being pinned and burned on August 22. Investigations by the California Highway Patrol and Division of Motor Vehicles have been handed to the Alameda County District Attorney for review in Hayward. A division spokesman said Sheedy Drayage Co had no permit to transport the huge transformer when it fit Marina Boulevard.

Kaiser eye doctors walk out over bargaining recognition
