A 22 year old Hayward resident Pfc Nester A Quintero is listed as wounded in action in Korea by the Department of Defense. He is the son of Mrs Georginia Quintero of Silva Avenue Hayward. A letter to his mother says he is in a base hospital with arm wounds and is recovering. Quintero, a three year veteran, is a native of Puerto Rico.

Ashland fire department extinguished a blaze in the car of C. Weiser at 6:50 p.m. Tuesday near 17120 East 14th street. The fire caused by a short in the ignition wires resulted in only minor damages.
