Peace Hope Is Revived In Korea Talks Site Move

At Pan Mun Kam in Korean territory the armistice talk site was moved to Pan Mun Jam as the path to resuming negotiations revived hopes for a quick cease fire. Fight at Ashland gas station leads to arrest

Cassin Vailley man held for investigation of four charges after a fight with a gas station attendant and a deputy sheriff last night at 16035 14th Street. Frank ers, 30, of Center Street, was booked for disturbing the peace assault and battery resisting arrest and theft. The attendant, Atwood, 24, reported two men broke a pump lock and Powers was placed under citizen’s arrest after a scuffle that left Atwood with a forehead wound requiring seven stitches. Louis N Conrad, 28, another man at the scene, is linked to the rock incident and to a plan to drain gas from hoses to reach another station. The report notes a missing wife of Powers and ongoing investigations.

Family ride into canyon turns deadly mess says Haywardite

Thomas W. Thornton thirteen, a cannery worker, and his family drove from Castro Street to Crow Canyon road. A farmer and wife threatened them with a shotgun. Thornton disarmed the man, then police and sheriff deputies intervened. A walnut field burglary report redirected Thornton to Contra Costa authorities. Hayward Burnis A Mith vis of Richmond was held yesterday for investigation of rape but released after no complaint was signed by the woman who alleged the attack. Nichols was taken Sunday by deputy sheriffs after a disturbance at a home where he allegedly threatened a boarder. After investigation the more serious charges were not pressed. Nichols was charged with disturbing the peace and to appear in Eden Justice court tomorrow.

Hayward Eyes Three Park Sites for City Recreation

Hayward city and the Hayward Army recreation district considered purchasing three park sites for development. District advisers endorsed a plan to fund and develop the sites as finances permit, authorizing district superintendent Harald Teal to communicate approval to Alameda County Board of Supervisors. Proposed sites include three acres beside Mt Eden School on Lane, the Grae and Mayer track area near a new school, and nearly three and a half acres in the Harder property subdivision near Hayward Union High School District site.

San Francisco Grand Jury Indicts Three in Slayings

The San Francisco county grand jury indicted Elbert Belote, 48, for firing a rifle through a peephole at Allen B. Friedman, and Thomas Cain, 30, a bellboy who fatally stabbed his common law wife Dorothea Hooker, 28. Alex Craig, 34, fatally stabbed his wife Martha File, 41, in connection with the week’s bloody Monday killings.

James P. Finnegan testified he became collector of internal revenue in St Louis at the urging of the late Robert Hanegan and spent three or four hours daily on the $10 000 a year post. Marilyn Dewey, a Concord girl, was accidentally shot by a playmate with a deer hunting rifle while playing near her home. She died early today at Perm aente frogmilal after medical efforts and prior surgery failed to save her.
