Underground Transit Cops Patrol Vast New York Subway
New York City Transit Authority police guard 237 miles of subway with 3,100 officers protecting 4 million riders daily. Detectives Lucille Datthyn and Anthony Sarich, partners on trains and platforms, handle perverts and pickpockets as they patrol in heat and tunnels. Other officers Pil. Scott and Pil. Lynch and Det. Sergeant Hernandez recount dangers, gangs like Savage Skulls and Tomahawks, and the desire to stay underground rather than transfer above ground.

One ferry survives to sail the Missouri River
Aboard the Sally Ann, the lone surviving Missouri River ferry, operates from April to November serving Nebraska and South Dakota. Owner Paul Hendrickson and his father-in-law Otis Cogdill bought it in 1965, keeping a river town tradition alive as tourists and local cargo cross the river. The vessel, built in 1960, can carry six cars and several trucks, with a family crew handling loading and steering.
