Bigamist Held After Wife Is Found Dead

Robert Jaine, 44, a Milwaukee factory worker, is jailed pending an inquest into the death of his wife, Marriet. He confessed to detectives that he strangled her after a quarrel about her drinking and keeping their apartment clean. Police say he used ads to lure three wives who lived with him in a pattern described as mil order marriages. The dead woman worked as a babysitter for their 18 month old child. Local Man Held For Bad Checks In Alameda County

Two Die in Highway 50 Auto Crash

Two Army Air Force nurses were killed and three other persons injured in an auto crash on U S Highway 50 near Parks Air Force base early today. Lt Louise B Harrington 43 of San Ysidro and Cpl Hosey O Sage 26 Longley were killed when a light convertible driven by Harrington left the road and crashed. Airman John A Payne of Texas and Sgt. Parks Air Force base members were wounded. Smith 28 Castro Valley and Brandon 20 of Johnson City were among those hospitalized with injuries.

City Hears Zoning for Annexed Tracts and Plan for Streets
