Castro Valley to seek 2.5 million state aid for schools

Castro Valley school district trustees voted to join with Hayward and San Lorenzo districts in calling an election on June 29 to approve a 2.5 million state aid grant. The plan combines state funds with bond money from February 1950 to build a multi-site program including Castro Valley six classrooms and an all purpose room, Chabot and other campuses, aiming to relieve overcrowding and provide a full day session for grades seven through eight and other facilities for district students.

Hayward Seek OK on Request for $4,500,000

Orland Close, clerk of the Hayward elementary school district, announced a special election for June 28 to authorize expenditure up to 4.5 million dollars from the state school bond fund approved last November. The funds would support four new schools and additions to nine existing ones to house nearly 9,000 additional pupils by October. District officials Dr. H. F. McCarter Edward J. Stanton and Close urged approval to prevent half day sessions and ensure facilities for current and incoming students.
