Nixon denies executive clemency offer in Watergate case
Washington UPI reports former detective Caulfield testified President Nixon did not authorize or transmit any clemency offer to Watergate conspirator James McCord. Caulfield claimed only Dean instructed him to convey a message from the highest levels, while McCord described efforts to gain presidential relief amid investigations and wiretap activity.
