Leonard K. Schwartz, 60, vice president of Kaiser Industries Corp, died Saturday at his home after a battle with cancer in Oakland. He joined Kaiser in 19XX and held multiple executive roles, leaving behind a decade of service in the firm’s leadership.
Milpitas police found the bodies of Grace Garlow and her husband Carl Garlow in their residence on Saturday. Grace, 39, apparently stabbed Carl, 41, then asphyxiated herself. Firefighters were summoned after a family member alerted a neighbor. Grace’s bedroom was barricaded and gas from a hose to a stove filled the room. Police recovered 10 notes.
Mrs Lyndon Johnson will travel to the Virgin Islands in June to deliver the commencement address at the New College of the Virgin Islands on St Thomas. She accepted the invitation of Gov Ralph Paiewonsky and college president Wallace Wanlass to address the first English oriented non sectarian Caribbean college. The college founded two years ago crowned its first graduating class of 13 students.
